Fabula One.

Privacy

Fabula One is built so that your screenplays stay on your computer. This page says exactly what is stored, where, and for how long — including the parts most policies leave out.

The short version

Who is responsible

Fabula One is operated by PLBD Assessoria Ltda, a limited company registered in Brazil.

CNPJ 15.532.405/0001-48
Registered office Rua Madre Carmelita 1029, Sala 01, Vila Rica

The same company also presents itself as Intuame, which is why some email from us — sign-in codes among them — may arrive from an intuame.com address. It is the same people. If that ever looks like something worth doubting, it is worth doubting: check with us before typing a code anywhere.

If you use the companion app

The app for Android and iPhone is a different piece of software from this website and stores different things — one value on the phone, and no screenplays at all. Privacy in the companion app covers it. Everything on this page about the account, the server and your rights applies to the app as well.

What is stored on your device

This is where your work lives. It is written to your browser's own storage and never leaves it unless you ask.

What Why
Your projects The screenplay, story line, treatment, structure and character profiles. This is your writing.
Frozen drafts Snapshots you chose to keep, so a rewrite can be undone.
Editor settings Which panel is open, which view you were in.
Review invitations Drafts other people sent you to read, and the links that open them. The screenplays themselves are not stored here.
A visit counter id A random identifier, described under Counting visits below. Deleted if you switch counting off.

Clearing your browser's data for this site erases all of it, including your screenplays. If they are not backed up or exported, they are gone. This is the trade-off of a tool that does not require an account.

What is stored on our server

Only if you create an account. Without one, our server holds nothing about you but the anonymous counts described further down.

What Why
Your email address To send sign-in codes, and to identify your account.
A username and display name Asked for once, after your first sign-in. Both optional.
Your screenplays Backed up so they survive a lost laptop and open on your other machines. Stored compressed, and readable by us in principle — see below.
Your frozen drafts The same, for the snapshots you chose to keep.
Sign-in codes and sessions Both stored only as one-way hashes, never in a form that could be used to sign in as you.
Review invitations and notes Who you asked to read a draft, and what they wrote back.

Can you read my screenplay?

If you back it up, then technically yes — it is stored on a server we administer, compressed but not encrypted in a way that locks us out. Any service that can restore your work to a new device can also read it, and a policy claiming otherwise would be untrue.

What we can tell you is what we do: nobody reads stored screenplays. They are not opened, not analysed, not used to train anything, and not shared with anyone. If you would rather that not be a matter of trust, work without an account — the app is complete without one — and keep your own backups with Export → Bundle.

If someone sends you a draft to review

You do not need an account to read a draft somebody sent you. When a writer invites you, we store the email address they typed and, once you write them, your notes.

You did not sign up for this — a writer entered your address. If you would like it removed, write to privacy@fabulaone.com and it will be deleted, along with any notes you left. The writer can also withdraw the invitation at any time.

Counting visits

We count how many people use Fabula One, on our own server. No third-party analytics service is involved and no advertising identifier is set.

What is recorded:

What is never recorded:

Switching counting off is a real deletion, not a promise to stop looking: it removes the identifier from your browser. The switch is in the app, under Privacy in the projects panel. We also honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control automatically, and nothing is counted at all while the app is running on a developer's machine.

Who else is involved

Who What they handle
Hostinger Hosting, the database and outgoing mail. Anything stored on our server is stored on theirs.

There is nobody else, and we mean that literally. No advertising network, no analytics vendor, no error-reporting service, no social media embeds, no chat widget — and no font service either.

Loading a typeface from someone else's server would send your IP address to them on every page you open. Ours are served from this site, so opening any page of Fabula One contacts nobody but Fabula One.

How long things are kept

What Kept
Projects on your device Until you delete them or clear your browser data.
Backed-up projects Until you delete them, or close your account.
Sign-in codes Ten minutes, then deleted.
Sessions 120 days, or until you log out.
Review invitations 90 days, or until the writer withdraws them.
The key used to hash IP addresses Two days, then destroyed — after which the hashes it made cannot be linked to anything, including each other.
Visit counts Indefinitely. They contain no name, address or identifier that points at a person.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to privacy@fabulaone.com.

Much of it you can do yourself and immediately: Export → Bundle gives you every project as ordinary files; Manage backup deletes what the server holds, project by project; and the privacy switch removes the visit identifier.

We are established in Brazil, so Brazil's LGPD (Lei 13.709/2018) applies to what we do. Because writers anywhere can sign up, the GDPR may also apply to readers in the EU or the UK. Under either you may object to processing, ask for your data in a portable form, and complain to a supervisory authority — in Brazil, the ANPD.

Where we ask, it is because you chose the feature: backup and review both happen only when you turn them on. Visit counting is done on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing whether anyone uses the product, and can be switched off in the app.

Children

Fabula One is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly hold data about anyone under 16. If you believe we do, write to us and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, account holders will be told by email before it takes effect. Smaller corrections are made here with the date above updated.
